We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a busy public practice team. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys managing a high volume of client files while delivering accurate accounting and tax work across a range of small engagements. The successful candidate will contribute to compilation and review work, prepare corporate and personal tax returns, and maintain strong client relationships through responsive and attentive service.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare compilation and review engagement files for a diverse portfolio of small business and individual clients.
• Complete corporate and personal income tax returns with a high level of accuracy and attention to deadlines.
• Handle required organizational and government filings in accordance with applicable Canadian regulatory requirements.
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information, clarify issues, and build strong working relationships across multiple accounts.
• Support accounting processes by assisting with limited bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining financial records where needed.
• Perform bank reconciliations, post journal entries, and help maintain complete and accurate general ledger records.
• Contribute to month-end activities and ensure client files are organized, up to date, and ready for reporting.
• Use CaseWare, CaseView, and tax preparation software to complete files efficiently and maintain documentation standards.
• At least 3 years of experience in public accounting or a similar staff accountant position.
• Hands-on experience preparing compilation files, review engagements, and corporate and personal tax returns.
• Working knowledge of Canadian tax compliance requirements and standard government filing obligations.
• Proficiency with CaseWare, CaseView, and tax preparation software.
• Strong understanding of bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close procedures.
• Ability to manage a high volume of client files while balancing multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on client service and relationship management.
