We are looking for an experienced Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst to join a finance team in Toronto, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. This role focuses on hedge accounting, derivatives reporting, securitization accounting, and financial analysis in a complex reporting environment. The successful candidate will contribute to accurate monthly and quarterly reporting, support accounting policy research, and help strengthen controls, documentation, and process improvements across treasury-related activities.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain and enhance monthly hedge accounting records by capturing new derivative activity and documenting hedge relationships accurately within financial reporting processes.
• Carry out hedge effectiveness assessments, retain complete audit-ready support, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal control expectations.
• Record recurring accounting entries for derivative activity, including accruals, settlements, valuation impacts, and any measured hedge ineffectiveness.
• Prepare reconciliations, analysis, and reporting packages related to derivatives, hedging activity, and treasury-related balances for management, regulatory, and external reporting needs.
• Evaluate the financial impact of hedging programs by comparing actual performance against forecasts and budgets, with attention to earnings and net interest margin implications.
• Research technical accounting matters involving derivatives, financial instruments, and hedging transactions, and assist with drafting or updating accounting guidance and supporting memoranda.
• Support securitization and structured finance accounting by preparing cash flow reporting, investor remittance reconciliations, journal entries, working papers, and period-end support schedules.
• Contribute to quarter-end and month-end reporting deliverables by validating balances, assessing valuations, assisting with disclosures, and partnering with internal teams on consolidated financial reporting requirements.
• Help improve reporting efficiency by strengthening process documentation, supporting audits and certifications, and contributing to automation, control enhancements, and new transaction frameworks where needed.

• 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, treasury accounting, or a senior financial analyst role within a complex finance environment.

• Demonstrated expertise in hedge accounting, including derivative reporting, effectiveness testing, and related reconciliations.

• Strong knowledge of accounting guidance for financial instruments, hedging activities, and securitization or structured finance transactions.

• Proven ability to prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, working papers, and financial analysis with a high level of accuracy.

• Experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting deadlines in a controlled and audit-sensitive environment.

• Strong research, documentation, and policy-writing skills, with the ability to interpret technical accounting issues clearly and practically.

• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to investigate variances, assess reporting impacts, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.

• Proficiency with financial reporting tools and spreadsheet-based analysis, along with a continuous improvement mindset focused on controls and process efficiency, Advanced Excel skills, experience with Power BI, Alteryx, or other data automation/reporting tools is an asset.
