About the Opportunity

Our client is a respected boutique public accounting firm in the York Region area that works with privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, and not-for-profit organizations. The firm offers a broad range of accounting, assurance, tax, and advisory services and is known for its collaborative team environment and long-standing client relationships.

They are looking to add a designated CPA to their growing team. This is a fully in-office role that offers exposure to a diverse client portfolio and the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility across assurance, financial reporting, and tax engagements.

Responsibilities

• Manage and review a variety of assurance and accounting engagements, including compilations, reviews, and audits.
• Prepare and review corporate year-end files, financial statements, and related tax compliance work.
• Support owner-managed clients with tax planning and business advisory matters.
• Apply ASPE and ASNPO standards across a broad range of client engagements.
• Prepare and review personal, trust, and corporate tax filings along with various compliance requirements.
• Build relationships with clients and provide ongoing support on accounting and tax matters.
• Assist with multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Participate in busy season requirements, including occasional evening and weekend work.
• Travel locally to client sites on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required.
• Previous experience working in public accounting, ideally with exposure to both assurance and tax.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
• Client-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with public accounting software and cloud-based accounting platforms is considered an asset.
• Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to evolving processes.
