We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a mining organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Long-term Contract. In this role, you will provide immediate support to the corporate accounting function, with a strong focus on consolidations, intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and financial analysis across multiple entities. The position is well suited to an experienced, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can work independently, collaborate with site and corporate teams, and help strengthen accounting processes during a period of complex project activity.

Responsibilities:
• Lead consolidation support for multiple subsidiaries and ensure financial information is accurately reflected across entities.
• Examine historical top-side and consolidation entries, identify issues, and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
• Partner with operating sites and corporate stakeholders to research transactions and resolve accounting questions.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including adjustments required to support accurate period-end reporting.
• Complete general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and clear outstanding items.
• Review intercompany activity, reconcile balances between entities, and follow up on variances or unmatched transactions.
• Analyze account fluctuations and underlying financial movements to confirm reasonableness and highlight unusual trends.
• Assist with the transition of accounting activities into the cloud-based environment and support related clean-up efforts as needed.
• Contribute to corporate accounting tasks involving cash activity, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, payroll, and general administrative costs.
• Proven experience in a senior-level accounting role within a complex, multi-entity organization.
• Strong background in consolidations, intercompany accounting, and month-end close activities.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and perform detailed general ledger, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and its application in a corporate accounting environment.
• Experience investigating historical transactions, assessing accounting treatment, and resolving reporting issues independently.
• Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across sites while managing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Background in treasury-related accounting activities is considered an asset.
