We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support financial operations for a pharmaceutical organization in Mississauga, Ontario. This Contract opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage close activities, assess financial results, and contribute to strong reporting practices. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting compliance, and partnering with internal teams to improve financial performance and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the full month-end close cycle for Canadian entities, ensuring financial results are completed accurately and submitted within required timelines.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting packages while helping maintain the quality of information provided to corporate stakeholders.

• Examine intercompany cost allocations and charges to confirm proper coding, accuracy, and distribution across relevant profit centres.

• Apply sound judgment to resolve accounting issues, determine when escalation is required, and balance multiple deadlines effectively.

• Work closely with FP& A partners to analyze monthly variances, explain differences between actual and planned results, and provide meaningful financial insight.

• Maintain adherence to accounting policies and internal control standards while identifying opportunities to strengthen existing procedures.

• Assist with internal and external audit requests, including documentation and support related to tax and compliance matters.

• Evaluate financial and operational processes, recommend efficiency improvements, and help drive initiatives that support stronger business performance and cost management.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close and financial reporting activities.
• Strong background in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, general ledger management, and journal entry preparation.
• Hands-on experience working with SAP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany accounting processes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with FP& A and other cross-functional teams to investigate financial results and support decision-making.
• Demonstrated understanding of accounting controls, audit support requirements, and compliance-focused financial practices.
• Proven ability to manage priorities independently, exercise sound judgment, and contribute leadership within a fast-paced environment.
