Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to support full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, audit support, and investment accounting. This role requires a strong technical accountant who can work independently, analyze financial information, and provide guidance to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting for an assigned business entity, with cross-training across additional entities.
• Prepare month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and other adjusting entries.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and perform variance analysis.
• Complete reconciliations for bank accounts, general ledger accounts, investments, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
• Prepare and maintain detailed working papers to support month-end, year-end, and external audit requirements.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations with a critical eye, investigating discrepancies and preparing corrective entries where required.
• Account for investment activity, including reconciliations, interest, dividends, and fair value adjustments.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
• Review Accounts Payable batches and assist with complex Accounts Receivable investigations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and Board reporting.
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation while acting as a key contact during the annual external audit.
• Provide technical guidance to junior accounting staff and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation (or near completion).
• 5+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, working papers, and external audit support.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting, accruals, prepaids, and investment accounting is considered an asset.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to investigate accounting issues, identify discrepancies, and recommend practical solutions.
