We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a construction-focused organization in Abbotsford, British Columbia on a Long-term Contract. This in-office opportunity is well suited to a hands-on accounting specialist who can support complex month-end activities, strengthen compliance processes, and provide financial oversight across project-based operations. The role offers the chance to work closely with the accounting team on job costing, intercompany accounting, tax-related reviews, and fixed asset oversight in a dynamic project environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end accounting activities, including reconciliations, journal entry review, and support for timely financial close procedures.
• Review job costing information from a manufacturing and engineering perspective to help maintain accuracy across active projects.
• Oversee higher-value accounts payable approvals by performing final verification checks for accuracy, compliance, and supporting documentation.
• Conduct tax compliance reviews, including sales tax validation and support for filings connected to Canadian and U.S. operations.
• Prepare and analyze reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and other key general ledger areas.
• Monitor intercompany transactions and reconciliations across related entities to ensure balances are properly recorded and resolved.
• Provide oversight on fixed asset accounting, including review of asset records and assistance with setup activities within updated systems.
• Use Excel tools such as pivot tables and advanced spreadsheet functions to analyze financial data and support reporting requirements.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a senior-level role.
• Background in construction, contractor, engineering, or other project-based industries is strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger management, and account reconciliation processes.
• Experience with job costing and the financial reporting needs of project-driven operations.
• Familiarity with tax compliance reviews, including sales tax and cross-border considerations involving U.S. activity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and intermediate to advanced data analysis functions.
• Experience using Epicor or a comparable ERP system in a complex accounting environment.
• Ability to work in a permanent on-site role in Abbotsford, British Columbia and collaborate effectively with an accounting team.
