Senior Accountant (Contract)

Duration: 3-6 months+ (potential extension)

Location: Brampton, onsite

Position Overview

Robert Half is seeking a manufacturing Senior Accountant for a growing company in Brampton. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting month-end close, project accounting, financial reporting, and finance process improvements within a growing, acquisition-driven organization. This is a highly hands-on role suited for an individual who enjoys digging into issues, improving processes, and taking ownership of accounting deliverables. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical accounting skills, experience in project-based or service environments, and exposure to WIP and percentage-of-completion accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, amortization, depreciation, and month-end reconciliations
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Assist with WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting
• Support project accounting, revenue recognition, and cost tracking activities
• Analyze financial data and proactively identify issues, errors, and process improvement opportunities
• Assist with AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting support as required
• Support ERP and process improvement initiatives
• Help strengthen controls, documentation, and accounting procedures
• Partner with operational teams to ensure accuracy of project and financial reporting

Qualifications

• CPA designation required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in construction, project-based, industrial services, engineering, manufacturing, or related environments preferred
• Strong understanding of WIP accounting and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
• Hands-on experience with month-end close and full-cycle accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• ERP experience (Navision, Vista, Dynamics, SAP, or similar preferred)
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving and investigative skills
