Our growing client organization is seeking an Accountant to join its Finance and Accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and ready to lead while contributing to the accuracy, efficiency, and success of the accounting function.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant, will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations and supporting the financial health of multiple business entities. Responsibilities include:

• Oversee the full-cycle accounting function, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, bank reconciliations, accruals, and month-end/year-end close

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and supporting schedules

• Review and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts

• Coordinate and review accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and customer account reconciliations

• Manage invoicing and accounts payable processes with a hands-on approach, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance

• Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies

• Partner with Operations, Dispatch, Sales, and Customer Service teams to resolve accounting and billing issues

• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency

• Prepare government remittances, including GST/PST and other regulatory filings as required

• Assist management with financial analysis and special projects

• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation across multiple entities

• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment with both local and remote team members

What You Bring

The ideal candidate is a strong technical accountant and capable team leader who can balance priorities and communicate effectively across departments.

Qualifications:

• CPA designation completed or in progress is preferred

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field

• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, and general accounting principles

• Proficiency in QuickBooks and experience with ERP, TMS, or other accounting systems

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and management levels

• Comfort working with remote teams and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail

• Experience in the transportation, logistics, trucking, or supply chain industry is a strong asset
