We are helping a growing and highly innovative financial services organization with a new Java Engineer to join their Payments Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity for a developer who enjoys solving complex problems, wearing multiple hats, and gaining exposure to a broad range of technologies, projects, and business functions. You'll work closely with senior leaders, product teams, operations, compliance, and engineering stakeholders to help build and enhance critical payment platforms supporting ACH, Wires, Real-Time Payments (RTP), FedNow, and other modern payment networks.

What you will do and how you will make an impact …

• You will play a key role in the development and evolution of modern payment processing platforms that support critical banking and financial transactions.

In this position, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Compliance, QA, and engineering teams to deliver secure and scalable payment solutions.
• Develop integrations with banking partners, third-party providers, and internal systems.
• Support highly reliable, secure, and compliant transaction processing platforms.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to monitoring, observability, and operational excellence efforts alongside DevOps and production support teams.

Qualifications ...

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience developing applications using Java and Spring Boot/Spring Framework.
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Experience working with AWS.

Compensation & Benefits ...

• The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000, depending on experience, skills, and overall qualifications. In addition to base compensation, employees are eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus program.

Work model ...

• This is a hybrid position based in Downtown Toronto, requiring employees to work in the office 2-3 days per week.
