We are looking for an experienced Senior Privacy Specialist to join a consultancy team on a long-term contract basis. This role focuses on strengthening privacy operations, supporting compliance activities, and helping the organization respond effectively to privacy-related matters in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to improve program maturity, manage privacy inquiries, and contribute to ongoing readiness for changing regulatory expectations.

Contract till March 2028.

Work location: downtown Toronto, ON.

Responsibilities:

• Advance the effectiveness of the privacy program by contributing to its ongoing development, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

• Work with business unit privacy representatives to coordinate deliverables and help ensure privacy obligations are completed on time.

• Draft, refine, and support the rollout of privacy policies, procedures, controls, and related documentation.

• Assist with privacy risk mitigation efforts by monitoring action plans and following up on remediation progress.

• Prepare summaries, reports, and presentation materials for governance discussions and compliance-related meetings.

• Oversee the intake and triage of privacy incidents, impact assessments, consultations, access-related matters, and complaints, ensuring timely follow-up.

• Conduct initial analysis and gather relevant information to support privacy reviews, investigations, and stakeholder consultations.

• Respond to questions and requests received through the Privacy Office communication channels in a thorough and timely manner.

• Track privacy developments, emerging risks, and regulatory changes, and support internal teams in assessing their business impact.

• Maintain accurate privacy records, update information in governance and risk platforms, and produce dashboards and reporting metrics for ongoing oversight.

• 2+ years of experience in privacy, compliance, governance, risk management, or a related function, ideally within insurance, banking, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Solid knowledge of privacy legislation, regulatory obligations, and accepted privacy management practices.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret requirements and apply them effectively within a compliance-focused environment.
• Experience handling multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced workplace.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and risk assessment capabilities with close attention to accuracy and detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and stakeholder correspondence.
• Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with individuals across different levels of an organization.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; privacy-related certifications or designations would be considered an asset.
