Title: Senior Financial Analyst

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Location: Listowel/Wingham, ON

Work Model: Hybrid preferred (3 days/week onsite)

Position Overview

Our client, in the Listowel/Wingham area, is seeking a for a Senior Financial Analyst for 1-year contract. This is a critical backfill within the Finance team during a period of transition and high activity, including leadership change and the upcoming annual budgeting cycle.

The ideal candidate will bring strong healthcare finance experience, hands-on financial reporting and budgeting expertise, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

·      Prepare and maintain financial and statistical reporting

·      Process and review journal entries

·      Complete balance sheet and control account reconciliations

·      Perform monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis

·      Lead or support annual operating budget preparation

·      Manage budget allocations

·      Review and sign off on AP invoices

·      Coordinate AP and AR activities across the Finance team

·      Support fixed assets and deferred funding accounting

·      Assist with year-end audit preparation and audit support

·      Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reporting for leadership

·      Complete Ministry of Health / Ontario Health reporting

·      Prepare HST returns and other government-related submissions

·      Support and/or lead finance-related projects as required

Preferred Experience

Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

·      Ministry/Ontario Health reporting

• Hospital funding and reporting requirements
• Budgeting and forecasting in a healthcare setting
• WERS, H-SAA, MIS Trial Balance, consolidations, and funding stream reporting

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive financial experience
• Experience in a hospital, healthcare, or similarly complex public-sector finance environment strongly preferred
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Financial reporting
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Journal entries and reconciliations
• Variance analysis
• AP/AR coordination or oversight
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work effectively in large, complex spreadsheets
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet multiple competing deadlines
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable providing day-to-day direction within a lean finance team
