We are looking for a technically sound Senior Accountant to join our reputable client in Langley, British Columbia on a Contract basis. This position plays a key role in financial reporting, capital expenditure tracking, and asset accounting across a large retail network. The successful candidate will provide timely analysis, support month-end and year-end activities, and help strengthen financial insight for store operations and leadership decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Manage capital expenditure and fixed asset reporting for a broad portfolio of retail locations, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining supporting schedules.

• Produce recurring forecasts and projection reports related to capital spending and asset activity, ensuring information is current and aligned with policy review requirements.

• Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results for an assigned group of stores, including profit and loss reporting and concise commentary on key outcomes.

• Assess operating results through variance reviews, trend evaluation, and performance analysis to highlight risks, opportunities, and potential efficiencies.

• Review financial work completed by other team members to confirm accuracy, consistency, and suitability for the intended audience.

• Support year-end financial activities by assembling audit-ready documentation and responding to reporting requirements tied to strategic initiatives.

• Represent the finance function on cross-functional projects when financial input is needed to help meet reporting and compliance expectations.

• Accounting designation such as CPA or an equivalent qualification.
• Hands-on experience with capital expenditure reporting and fixed asset accounting, including journal entries and schedule maintenance.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger processes.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence working with detailed financial data.
• Experience supporting month-end close, depreciation accounting, and related calculations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate financial results and business implications clearly.
