THE ROLE:

Our Edmonton-based client is seeking a Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity supporting critical financial reporting activities, month-end processes, and key finance initiatives. This role is ideal for a designated accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with complex reconciliations and working papers, and can quickly contribute to a high-performing team

Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end close activities, including reconciliations, working papers, and supporting schedules
• Prepare financial reporting packages and support IFRS-compliant financial statements and disclosures
• Perform detailed variance analysis and provide insights to support business decisions
• Assist with finance-related projects, process improvements, and system initiatives
• Support year-end requirements, including inventory counts, rollbacks, and reconciliations as needed
• Partner with a collaborative finance team to meet tight reporting deadlines
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across accounting processes and controls

ABOUT YOU:

You are a designated accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and a proven ability to manage competing priorities in deadline-driven environments. You bring a hands-on approach to financial reporting, enjoy solving challenges independently, and continuously look for opportunities to improve processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

• CPA designation required
• Strong IFRS reporting and financial statement preparation experience
• Proven success managing month-end close processes
• Advanced reconciliation and working paper preparation skills
• Experience performing detailed variance analysis
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong process improvement mindset
• Experience meeting tight public company reporting deadlines
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to hit the ground running in a fast‑paced environment
