Our client is a well-established and growing manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on job costing, project margin analysis, month-end reporting, and financial process improvement.

The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Operations, Project Management, Engineering, and other key stakeholders to provide accurate financial information and support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Job Costing

• Maintain accurate job costing and provide timely analysis of project margins, efficiency, and variances.
• Support project reviews and identify opportunities to improve project profitability and margins.
• Assist with quoting and pricing decisions by providing financial analysis and insight.
• Manage annual SR& ED and other government grant applications, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the process.
• Develop and enhance financial and operational KPIs in partnership with the Controller.
• Provide financial insight and analysis to support operational and project-related decision-making.

Finance & Accounting

• Manage the month-end close process and prepare accurate financial reporting, with a target close of approximately five business days.
• Perform day-to-day transactional accounting activities and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Manage job routing and job costing activities to ensure projects are accurately captured and reported.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, government, and customer-mandated requirements.
• Provide oversight of the day-to-day activities of the Finance team.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and overall efficiency.
• Support the Controller with financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a project-based manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, margin analysis, and month-end close.
• Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, variance analysis, and general accounting.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Project Management.
• A proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to identify issues, improve processes, and take ownership.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing or project-based environment.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, margin analysis, reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
• Demonstrated experience preparing financial reports, investigating variances, and maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience using accounting or enterprise financial systems.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with finance, operations, engineering, and project teams.
• Self-directed and analytical, with a proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes.
