THE ROLE:

Our Edmonton area client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team on a contract basis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key financial processes while providing valuable insights that support business performance and strategic decision-making. As a trusted member of the finance team, you will be responsible for financial reporting, cash flow management, project analysis, and process improvements. This role is well-suited for an analytical professional who enjoys collaborating with operational teams and using financial data to drive business results.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly and annual financial statements, along with supporting working papers and schedules
• Developing and maintaining cash flow forecasts and providing analysis to support operational and strategic planning
• Performing project and profitability analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
• Completing account reconciliations and preparing journal entries
• Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
• Partnering with operational stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations
• Identifying opportunities to enhance financial controls, reporting processes, and overall efficiency

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• CPA designation or nearing completion of the CPA program
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and analysis
• Experience with cash flow forecasting, reporting, and analysis
• Background in project accounting and profitability analysis
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
• Commitment to accuracy, process improvement, and continuous learning
