Robert Half has partnered with a reputable client in Edmonton, Alberta, to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant. We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in financial accounting and financial analysis—ideally with experience in the construction industry. This individual will play a key role in overseeing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

• Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations, to maintain financial accuracy.

• Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and adjustments.

• Oversee month-end closing processes to meet reporting deadlines.

• Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and provide actionable insights.

• Consolidate financial statements across multiple entities for accurate reporting.

• Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functions to streamline financial processes and analysis.

• Collaborate with team members to improve efficiency in financial operations.

• Provide support for financial audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained.

• Assist in the implementation of financial systems and tools to enhance reporting capabilities.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an accountant, preferably within the construction industry.

• CPA or final stages is an asset

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and general ledger management.

• Expertise in journal entries and month-end closing processes.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.

• Experience in preparing and consolidating financial statements.

• Familiarity with variance analysis and financial reporting.

• Previous exposure to financial system implementation is considered an asset.
