The Senior Accountant position is responsible for coordinating month-end financial reporting including reconciliation of working papers for multiple companies. This position ensures that the company procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles for the business which operates in a multi-company, multi-currency, intercompany environment. Daily collaboration with US entities. The position reports into the Financial Controller.


Responsibilities


Financial Management

• Reporting and reconciliation of working papers for both CANADA and USA operating companies, including the review of project WIP, journal entries, USA/Canada payroll entries, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany, and USA/Canada statutory reporting

• Bank Reconciliations for 20+ accounts

• Monthly government remittances GST/PST/QST

• Assist with year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements


General Tasks

• Support new systems project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective. Be a lead user of accounting and reporting software tools

• Train, and mentor accounting and administrative staff

• Other related duties as assigned or required


• A minimum of five years' professional accounting experience.

• University degree in Business/Accounting

• Professional accounting certification (CA, CPA, CGA, CMA) is preferred, or active pursuit thereof

• US accounting experience is considered an asset

• Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong work ethic and positive team attitude

• Experience with query building and reporting writing (Tableau)

• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (specifically Excel)

• Experience with enterprise accounting software packages (or similar)

• Proficient communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

• Experience in construction industry in a multi-currency organization is an asset
