We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join an IT software organization in Richmond Hill, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. In this role, you will support accurate and timely payroll operations by reviewing employee pay information, maintaining payroll records, and preparing reporting for internal use. You will work closely with payroll colleagues to help ensure payroll activities are processed in accordance with company standards and applicable legislation. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:
• Enter and maintain payroll information in payroll systems with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Review payroll records to identify discrepancies, validate supporting information, and help resolve issues before processing is completed.
• Prepare regular payroll-related reports and summaries to support internal tracking, reconciliation, and compliance needs.
• Collaborate with other members of the payroll team to help deliver accurate and timely payroll processing for employees.
• Audit payroll data, including earnings, deductions, and employee updates, to support compliance with payroll policies and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate payroll-related questions or exceptions and assist in resolving concerns in a thorough and timely manner.
• Organize and manage multiple payroll tasks at once while meeting established deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• At least 2 years of payroll experience, including exposure to Canadian and/or U.S. payroll environments.
• Strong working knowledge of payroll processes and payroll administration practices.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and solid skills across Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively and manage competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills in English, along with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Payroll certification or membership through recognized payroll associations is considered an asset; payroll certification is preferred.
