Our client is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team in High River, Alberta on a contract basis. This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who can independently manage full-cycle payroll while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. The successful candidate will support payroll, benefits, and HR processes for a workforce of approximately 250 employees.

Responsibilities:

• Process end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for approximately 250 employees.
• Review payroll data, process adjustments, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Manage payroll remittances, year-end reporting, deductions, and T4 preparation.
• Administer employee benefits and pension updates in partnership with HR.
• Process new hires, terminations, and other employee lifecycle payroll transactions.
• Support payroll journal entries, coding, and general ledger postings.
• Assist HR with payroll-related inquiries and issue resolution.
• Troubleshoot Ceridian Dayforce payroll issues and support system improvements. 

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing.
• Proven ability to manage payroll independently with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on experience with Ceridian Dayforce, including payroll processing and system troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory remittances, year-end processing, and compliance.
• Experience administering employee benefits and pension-related payroll activities.
• Understanding of payroll accounting, general ledger coding, and reconciliations.
• Experience supporting hourly, part-time, and multi-department payroll environments.
• Strong technical skills with the ability to work confidently in payroll systems and related applications.
