Robert Half is partnering with a well respected organization that's looking to add an experienced Payroll Analyst to their team. This is a full-time/permanent role on site.

Responsibilities:

• Administer the organization’s bi-weekly payroll cycles for different employee groups, ensuring each run is completed accurately and on schedule.

• Determine employee earnings and deductions, including regular pay, overtime, benefits, special payments, and approved salary adjustments.

• Validate payroll transactions against internal policies, legislative requirements, collective agreement provisions, and supporting People and Culture documentation before submission.

• Monitor payroll changes to confirm alignment with approved budgets, then reconcile totals and transmit finalized data to the external payroll provider.

• Manage payroll-related documentation for garnishments, on-call compensation, and employee status updates such as hires, departures, and changes between permanent and part-time work.

• Maintain complete and accurate payroll records, including preparing Records of Employment and supporting annual tax slip production such as T4s and T4As.

• Reconcile payroll accounts each month and complete required remittances, journal entries, and data submissions within established deadlines.

• Update payroll databases through file imports, verify coding for permanent equivalent reporting, and support annual reporting requirements including pension adjustments and deduction reconciliations.

• Prepare leave balance valuations and other payroll support schedules for year-end audit activities, while assisting with payroll analysis and backup coverage as needed.

• Maintain current payroll and pension procedures documentation and provide operational support during payroll administration absences.

Qualifcations:

• Must be willing to work fully on site.

• Canadian Payroll Association designation is strongly preferred.

• 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a finance environment serving a complex organization.

• Hands-on experience with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, or similar accounting and payroll systems.

• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, government remittances, and year-end reporting requirements, along with eligibility to work.

• Demonstrated ability to reconcile payroll accounts, prepare journal entries, and support payroll-related financial reporting.

• Knowledge of employee benefits administration, pension processes, and defined benefit pension plans.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling confidential employee and payroll information.

• Ability to interpret organizational policies, collective agreements, and supporting documentation to ensure compliant payroll processing.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to meet recurring deadlines.
