We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist with strong SAP payroll expertise to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This contract position is ideal for a payroll professional who can independently manage end-to-end payroll processing in an SAP environment, with a strong understanding of compliance, unionized settings, and payroll system configuration. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, supporting complex payroll changes, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and collective agreement requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Configure and maintain the payroll system to support annual salary increases and updates in accordance with collective agreements and union settlements
• Independently execute full-cycle payroll processing as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Assess the effectiveness and reliability of payroll-related systems and processes, recommending improvements where needed
• Leverage technology to enhance payroll processes and drive operational efficiencies
• Prepare, review, and validate payroll reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Generate payroll, time, and employee data reports for management as required
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits and provide necessary payroll data and documentation
• Support collective bargaining, grievance, and settlement processes by providing accurate payroll data and analysis
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, company policies, and union agreements
• Maintain strong working knowledge of payroll, time and attendance systems, including SAP

• Proven expert-level experience managing and processing large, complex payrolls using payroll, time and attendance, and HR systems (SAP Payroll strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute full-cycle payroll processing in a complex and/or unionized environment
• Strong experience with payroll system configuration, including salary increases and changes related to collective agreements and union settlements
• Solid understanding of payroll compliance, legislation, and reporting requirements
• Experience supporting collective bargaining, grievance, and settlement processes by providing accurate payroll data
• Ability to assess and improve payroll systems and processes, driving efficiencies and accuracy
• Experience collaborating with auditors and supporting payroll audits
• Proven ability to lead or participate in projects, working cross-functionally with IT and vendors to support system enhancements
• Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
