We are looking for a Payroll Accountant to join our team on a Contract basis in Richmond Hill, Ontario. In this role, you will manage end-to-end payroll activities for both Canadian and U.S. employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across multiple pay groups. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with payroll platforms and a solid understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, benefits, and tax-related matters.

Responsibilities:
• Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees across weekly and other scheduled pay cycles in locations where work authorization is required and the United States.
• Review payroll data for completeness and accuracy, then resolve discrepancies before finalizing each pay run.
• Reconcile payroll registers, general ledger entries, deductions, and remittances to support accurate financial reporting.
• Investigate payroll tax questions and address issues related to source deductions, filings, and employee records.
• Maintain payroll records and support compliance with applicable federal, provincial, state, and other regulatory requirements.
• Administer payroll-related benefits and deductions while coordinating updates in the payroll system as needed.
• Use payroll and accounting platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, Concur, and related systems to support daily operations.
• Partner with finance and internal stakeholders to record payroll transactions and improve the efficiency of payroll processes.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience processing both Canadian and U.S. payroll.
• Demonstrated expertise with payroll systems, including strong knowledge of ADP payroll platforms.
• Hands-on experience handling payroll for hourly and salaried employees in multi-cycle environments.
• Solid understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and tax-related payroll matters.
• Experience working with payroll, benefits, and accounting functions in a detail-oriented setting.
• Proficiency with tools such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, Concur, and other accounting software systems.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential information accurately and effectively.
