We are looking for an experienced Manager, Complex Accounting to lead the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in Ottawa, Ontario. This position is suited to a finance leader who can navigate complex accounting matters, strengthen reporting processes, and support high-quality analysis across the organization. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of IFRS, sound judgement in addressing technical accounting issues, and the ability to guide a team in a demanding, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the review and oversight of complex accounting matters and significant financial transactions to ensure accurate treatment and reporting.

• Plan for the adoption of new accounting standards and coordinate their implementation across reporting processes.

• Identify technical accounting concerns early and introduce practical improvements that increase efficiency and consistency.

• Manage the year-end and ongoing audit process for multiple entities, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors.

• Build effective working relationships with operational teams and finance colleagues to support clear communication and aligned reporting outcomes.

• Guide initiatives that improve the preparation of reporting schedules, including the use of automation to simplify recurring activities.

• Supervise and mentor the financial reporting team, setting clear expectations and supporting the delivery of financial statements, reports, and analysis.

• Organize competing priorities and monitor timelines closely to ensure all reporting obligations are completed on schedule.Complex

• 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, technical accounting, or a related finance leadership role.

• Expert knowledge of IFRS and its application to complex accounting transactions and financial statement preparation.

• Demonstrated experience analyzing non-routine or sophisticated transactions and determining appropriate accounting treatment.

• Proven ability to lead or support external audits and manage deliverables for multiple reporting entities.

• Experience overseeing staff, providing direction, and fostering performance in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

• Effective relationship-building and communication skills for working with business units and cross-functional stakeholders.

We need a strong oral and written communicator to deal with multiple levels in the organization and also deal with external auditors.

Ideally someone who was involved in reporting from 'Big 4' Accounting coupled with experience in a corporate reporting.
