Lawyer, Commercial & Securities Class Actions

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Position Summary

A highly reputable plaintiff-side litigation firm is seeking qualified lawyers with 2+ years of experience to join its growing securities class actions practice. The successful candidates will represent investors and shareholders in complex class proceedings involving alleged corporate misconduct and misrepresentations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work for a large North American law firm on high-profile litigation that promotes corporate accountability and advances access to justice.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and advance securities and commercial class action files from investigation through resolution.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, facta, and other litigation materials.
• Analyze disclosure documents, regulatory filings, financial records, and evidentiary materials.
• Participate in examinations, mediations, settlement negotiations, and court appearances.
• Collaborate with experts, investigators, co-counsel, and litigation support teams.
• Advise clients and class representatives on litigation strategy and case developments.
• Assist in identifying and evaluating potential securities misrepresentation claims and other shareholder-related causes of action.
• Contribute to the strategic development and prosecution of complex class proceedings.

Qualifications

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, and admission to a U.S. state bar is considered an asset.
• Experience in civil litigation, securities litigation, class actions, commercial litigation, or related practice areas.
• Strong advocacy, legal research, and written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters and competing priorities.
• Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with class proceedings, securities regulation, shareholder disputes, or regulatory investigations.
• Familiarity with publicly traded companies, continuous disclosure obligations, and market misconduct matters.
• A strong commitment to plaintiff-side litigation, investor protection, and access to justice.

Work Environment

• Primarily in-office, as senior lawyers will also be working primarily in-office. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered based on experience and individual needs.

Compensation

• Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with individual qualifications and experience.
