Role: Interim Controller - Hands-On

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Interim Controller to support their finance function. This role is ideal for a well-rounded accounting and finance professional who enjoys operating in a dynamic environment and contributing across both transactional and strategic finance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Oversee general accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and supporting analysis.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and year-end reporting requirements with external advisors.
• Assist with ERP, systems, and process improvement initiatives.
• Support compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with operational leaders to provide financial guidance and decision-support analysis.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting, KPI dashboards, and management presentations.

Qualifications

• CPA designation preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience in a Controller or senior accounting capacity.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing the full accounting cycle in a hands-on environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with major ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with stakeholders across the organization.
• Experience supporting process improvements and business transformation initiatives is considered an asset.
