Bonduelle is a frozen vegetable manufacturing facility that has been operating in the Lethbridge and Taber areas for years. This Heavy Duty Mechanic position is main work site is the Taber Field Shop. Job duties require performing preventative maintenance on the Pea and Corn Harvesters all year round with the busy season taking place July-October.
Hours of work:
Outside of Harvest (November-June): Monday - Thursday 10 hour shifts 7am-5:30pm
Harvest (July-October) - 10 hour rotating shifts between days, nights, evening, and weekends

The Field Mechanic is responsible for the following:
- Performing preventative maintenance by following work orders to rebuild combines in the offseason
- Diagnosing, trouble shooting, and completing repairs to combines during harvest
- Maintaining harvesters, tractors, trailers and trucks.
- Supervising harvest crews and monitoring daily maintenance/wash in the field
Reporting Duties:
The Field Mechanic reports to the Agricultural Maintenance Manager and the Agricultural Crop Manager as a second.
Main Responsibilities / Tasks:
- Off season preventative maintenance/rebuilds on harvesters that may include sheet metal fabrication, transmissions, gear boxes, hydraulics, welding, electrical, and electronics
- Shop related duties
- Repairs broken down machines in the field
- Supervises harvest operators, responsible for the crew that is on shift and checking that daily maintenance/wash is done correctly
- Responsible for training and guiding the mechanics helper
- Ensures harvesters are adjusted and functioning properly to do the best job possible
- Ensures that paperwork is completed in a timely fashion
Physical Requirements:
- Stand/Walk for 10-12 hours
- Squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, and use of ladders and stairs
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50lbs/23kg
- Occasional carrying up to 50lbs/23kg
Competencies and Qualifications:
- Registered in a ticketed trade or have a journeyman’s ticket in a relevant trade such as Heavy Equipment Technician, Agricultural Equipment Technician, Millwright, Automotive Mechanic, Welder, and etc.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Work in a safe and efficient manner
- Be available to work on weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays during peak season
- Be available for 10-12 hour shifts
- Follow personal hygiene rules
- Able to work alone for extended periods of time
- Be reliable
- Have a valid driver’s license
