Job Title: General Accountant

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative General Accountant to join their finance team. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end processes, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries
• Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and subledgers
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and internal reporting packages
• Help ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in audits by preparing supporting schedules and documentation
• Contribute to process improvements within the accounting function

Qualifications:

• Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional accounting designation completed or in progress is considered an asset
• Experience in a general accounting or similar accounting role
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting month-end close
• Familiarity with ERP systems
• Experience in account reconciliations and financial analysis
