Job Title: SAP S/4HANA Finance Functional Lead

Project Duration: 8-10 months

Location: Cambridge, 4 days onsite

Position Overview:

Robert Half is seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud finance professional who can hit the ground running and play a critical role in supporting a large-scale implementation. This person will spend approximately 60% of their time supporting project leads while also serving as the key liaison between finance stakeholders and technical teams.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong finance background, hands-on experience with general ledger (GL) processes and chart of accounts (COA) mapping, and the ability to help guide conversations around current-state versus future-state processes in an SAP transformation environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support project leads across the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation.
• Act as the primary liaison between finance and technical teams to ensure alignment on requirements, design, and execution.
• Lead and facilitate meetings with business and project stakeholders.
• Provide functional finance expertise related to SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud.
• Drive discussions around GL structure, financial processes, and COA mapping.
• Help navigate stakeholder expectations, including situations where business users may prefer legacy processes, while supporting the implementation of best practices in the new system.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to identify gaps, resolve issues, and keep the project moving forward.
• Assist with implementation activities leading up to go-live. 

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementations.
• Finance functional background with deep understanding of general ledger and chart of accounts mapping.
• Proven ability to support project leadership and coordinate across multiple workstreams.
• Experience leading meetings and working directly with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication and change management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment with minimal ramp-up time.
• Prior experience in SAP finance transformation a must.
• Experience managing stakeholder resistance during system/process change.
• Strong understanding of finance operations and system integration impacts.

• Hands-on, proactive, and able to quickly establish credibility with both finance and IT teams.
• Comfortable operating in a support role to project leadership while also owning key functional liaison responsibilities.
• Strong facilitator who can balance historical business practices with future-state SAP design.
