Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, the Finance Manager plays a key role in supporting financial reporting, analysis, controls, and planning across a blended not‑for‑profit and for‑profit organization focused on advancing the scientific community.

This is an excellent opportunity for a designated CPA or CPA student seeking progressive, hands‑on experience in a hybrid work environment while contributing to an organization with a meaningful healthcare and research mission. The role provides exposure aligned with CPA Canada practical experience requirements and offers long‑term growth potential as the organization continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for multiple entities
• Maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries, reconciliations, and working papers
• Prepare and maintain capital asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Support year‑end audit and tax processes and liaise with external auditors
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Prepare management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs
• Analyze financial and operational performance and provide actionable insights
• Support financial reporting for externally funded programs and partner organizations
• Provide backup bookkeeping and close support as required
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and system efficiencies

CPA Supervision & Development

This role is supervised and mentored by a qualified CPA and is structured to support progressive responsibility and professional judgment across financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and audit support, consistent with CPA Canada experience requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA designation or actively pursuing the CPA designation (required and will be verified prior to interview with client)
• Experience in a broad accounting role; exposure to multi‑entity or not‑for‑profit environments an asset
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel
• Experience supporting audits and financial reporting cycles
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
