We are looking for a Finance Management Consultant to support financial planning activities for a high profile client in British Columbia. This Long-term Contract opportunity is centred on workforce planning, payroll forecasting, and analytical support for capital approvals, with a strong emphasis on building dependable models that inform business decisions. The successful candidate will work closely with finance, HR, operations, and senior leaders to strengthen forecasting accuracy, improve cost visibility, and support disciplined financial processes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance detailed Excel-based payroll and workforce forecasting models for a large employee population across salaried and unionized groups.

• Collaborate with HR and operational stakeholders to incorporate staffing plans, overtime patterns, absenteeism trends, and other workforce drivers into forecasting assumptions.

• Lead recurring payroll and labour cost reviews by assessing actual results against forecasts, identifying key variances, and highlighting factors management can influence.

• Create compensation and headcount models that rely on pay band assumptions rather than employee-level records, while supporting appropriate data handling practices.

• Implement validation processes that compare projected results to actual outcomes and use findings to refine model logic and forecasting assumptions over time.

• Contribute to medium- and long-range workforce planning by preparing financial outlooks that support three-year and five-year planning cycles.

• Assist with the review and coordination of capital project submissions, helping ensure proposals are complete, well-presented, and ready for approval routing.

• Support business partners involved in capital appropriation activities across a broad portfolio of projects by tracking submissions and maintaining process consistency.

• Facilitate timely review workflows for capital requests by helping meet service expectations and coordinating with senior approvers to move decisions forward efficiently.

• Demonstrated experience building and managing complex workforce, payroll, or human capital models within a large organization.
• Strong background in Excel-based financial modelling, including the ability to work confidently in sophisticated forecasting files.
• Proven ability to establish feedback mechanisms that test forecast accuracy and improve assumptions using actual results.
• Experience reviewing business proposals or similar documentation for completeness, quality, and financial relevance.
• Solid understanding of FP& A principles, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and long-range planning.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work across finance and non-finance teams in a collaborative environment.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling models, reports, and approval documentation.
