We are looking for a Finance Consultant to join a finance team South of Vancouver, British Columbia on a mid-term, contract basis. This opportunity is well suited to a senior accounting specialist who can step into a hands-on controller-level role and provide reliable hands-on support through year-end activities, audit readiness, and complex financial reporting. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively across a multi-entity, multi-currency environment while meeting critical reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Lead key accounting activities tied to the year-end close, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and ready for review.

• Prepare financial statements and related reporting for multiple legal entities, with careful attention to consistency and compliance.

• Reconcile balance sheet and subledger accounts, including cash, intercompany balances, payables, receivables, and inventory.

• Support consolidated reporting by coordinating entity results, posting elimination entries, and resolving intercompany differences.

• Assemble audit support materials such as schedules, working papers, and account analyses for external review.

• Identify variances or irregularities during the close process and investigate issues to a timely resolution.

• Maintain the integrity of AP, AR, and inventory records by reviewing transactions and reconciling supporting details to the general ledger.

• Contribute to accounting and reporting requirements involving foreign currency transactions and multi-currency balances.

• Provide assistance with bank reporting, year-end technical accounting matters, and tax-related support as needed.

• Partner with finance leadership to deliver accurate reporting within tight timelines and respond to changing priorities during peak periods.

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience as a CPA designated professional, including responsibility for year-end close and external audit support.

• Strong background in financial reporting, account reconciliations, and full-cycle accounting within complex environments.

• Demonstrated experience working with multi-entity structures, consolidations, intercompany transactions, and elimination entries.

• Practical knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting processes.

• Experience handling accounting matters in a multi-currency setting.

• Solid understanding of ASPE and its application to financial statement preparation.

• Ability to analyze discrepancies, solve problems independently, and maintain a high level of accuracy under deadline pressure.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with finance leaders and external auditors.
