Robert Half Canada is conducting a search on behalf of a boutique law firm for an Employment Lawyer to join its Toronto team. This opportunity is well suited to a lawyer with experience in employment law who is looking to work in a client-focused, collaborative, and high-accountability practice environment.
The successful candidate will advise and represent clients on a broad range of workplace law matters, including employment-related disputes, workplace policies, contractual matters, and compliance issues. The role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful files and contribute across all stages of client service, advocacy, and legal strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on a broad range of employment law matters, including employment agreements, workplace policies, terminations, human rights, accommodation, and compliance issues
- Represent clients in employment-related disputes, negotiations, mediations, hearings, and litigation matters, as applicable
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal opinions, correspondence, settlement materials, and other legal documentation
- Conduct legal research and provide practical, clear, and strategic advice
- Manage files effectively from intake through resolution, including deadlines, documentation, and client communication
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and external parties
- Contribute to a respectful, team-oriented, and service-driven legal practice
Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Experience practicing employment law in a law firm or comparable legal environment
- Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a timely and organized manner
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and a client-centered approach
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience representing either employers or employees in employment-related matters
- Exposure to litigation, mediation, and negotiated dispute resolution
- Familiarity with human rights, workplace investigations, labour-related issues, or related regulatory matters
