Our client, a leading business law firm, is seeking an Employment & Labour Associate to join its Toronto office. This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative legal team advising employers on a broad range of workplace law matters.

The successful candidate will support clients across industries on employment, labour, and human rights matters, including day-to-day workplace issues, complex advisory work, and dispute-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on employment and labour law matters, including workplace policies, employment agreements, terminations, accommodations, human rights, and labour relations
• Support employer clients in matters involving grievances, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and litigation
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions, briefs, pleadings, and other documentation
• Assist with workplace investigations and regulatory compliance matters
• Provide practical, business-focused legal advice tailored to client needs
• Collaborate with colleagues across practice groups on multidisciplinary client matters
• Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives as appropriate

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Experience in employment and labour law gained at a law firm or in-house legal department
• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and client service

 Preferred Experience

• Experience advising employer-side clients
• Exposure to advocacy, labour arbitration, employment litigation, or human rights matters
• Experience handling a mix of advisory and dispute-related files
