Our client is seeking a Development Accountant to support the Finance team for a 6 month contract. This is an opportunity where the contract can be extended or converted into a permanent full-time role.

Reporting to the CFO and Controller your responsibilities will include:

• Complete all time-sensitive deliverables accurately, including draw processing, deposit collections, and sales reconciliations.

• Conduct bank reconciliations on a timely basis and ensure the closure of each period efficiently.

• Record GST and Utilities refund cheques and assist with filing GST and Empty Homes Tax.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly project updates and reports on project budgets, tracking and reporting on budget variances.

• Liaise with the development team, vendors, and other staff as required.

• Liaise with Project QS & lenders to provide project cost information and review draft reports.

• Prepare monthly working papers.

• Ensure invoice amounts are within contract values.

• Process Journal Entries as required.

• Reach out to lenders for BA/CDOR rates and assist with registering HPO and Travelers.

• Enter statements of adjustments on closings and general contractor invoices.

• Ensure all invoices are properly coded, and development fees are accurately calculated and paid promptly.

• Process cheques and EFT payments to vendors.

• Assist with preparation of ad hoc reports, special projects, responsibilities, and other duties as assigned by the Manager.

• Assist with the year-end audit.

To be considered for this opportunity, you are a designated CPA with 4+ years of development accounting experience where it’s a combination of public practice and progressive accounting experience in the real estate industry.

In addition, the following skills and experience are desired:

• Experience in both commercial and residential development is preferred.

• Strong technical accounting experience

• Proficient knowledge of Yardi Voyager Job Cost.

• High level of organization and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work well individually and in teams.

• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

• Self-starter with experience working in a fast-paced environment.
