We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join a lean finance team in Scarborough, Ontario in a contract capacity with permanent potential. This position will support costing operations within a manufacturing environment, partnering closely with finance leadership to strengthen visibility into product costs, operational performance, and margin drivers. The successful candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset and help advance a more disciplined standard costing approach across the business.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and refine product costing models to improve accuracy and support informed financial decision-making.
• Analyze manufacturing variances, including material, labour, and production results, and explain gaps between expected and actual performance.
• Support the organization’s move toward a standard cost framework by helping establish costing assumptions, controls, and reporting practices.
• Work with finance and operational stakeholders to assess cost trends, validate inputs, and identify opportunities to improve margins.
• Prepare regular cost analysis and variance summaries for leadership, highlighting key risks, trends, and performance drivers.
• Review data within ERP and accounting systems to ensure costing information is complete, reliable, and aligned with financial records.
• Contribute to budgeting activities by providing cost-related inputs, assumptions, and analytical support.
• Assist with costing considerations related to newly integrated business operations and help align financial analysis across entities.
• Detail-oriented experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing or product-based environment.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and cost control principles.
• Hands-on experience with ERP platforms and accounting software systems; familiarity with Epicor is an asset.
• Ability to interpret production, labour, and materials data and translate findings into clear financial insight.
• Working knowledge of budgeting processes and broader accounting functions across a finance team.
• Experience using reporting and analytical tools such as Crystal Reports or similar platforms is preferred.
• Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced business environment with shifting priorities and cross-functional collaboration.
