THE ROLE:

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller for a leadership opportunity within a complex, fast-paced organization undergoing significant transformation and restructuring. This is a hands-on role for a finance professional who can provide stability, manage competing priorities, and confidently oversee accounting operations in a multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and full-cycle accounting under ASPE.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, liquidity planning, and bank requisitions.
• Lead year-end reporting, including financial statements, notes, and MD& A.
• Oversee reconciliations and provide hands-on support with inventory accounting.
• Support insurance-related financial analysis and documentation.
• Mentor accounting staff and provide guidance to a lean finance team.
• Partner with leadership and external advisors on financial matters.
• Identify process improvements and support the adoption of AI-enabled tools.
• Provide structure and stability throughout a period of transition.

You are a hands-on, adaptable finance leader who thrives in complex and fast-moving environments. You bring strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. You are comfortable getting into the details, mentoring others, and navigating change with confidence.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Proven Controller-level experience.
• CPA or internationally recognized accounting designation with relevant Canadian experience.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and lookups.
• Strong full-cycle accounting, cash flow, and financial reporting experience.
• Multi-entity accounting experience.
• Understanding of wind-up and distribution processes.
• Inventory, multi-currency, and consolidation experience considered an asset.
• Power Pivot and AI tool experience considered an asset.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a high-paced, changing environment.
