THE ROLE:

Our client, a well-established organization in Southeast Calgary, is seeking an experienced Controller for a 2–3 month contract opportunity. This role will provide critical financial oversight across accounting operations, reporting, budgeting, and team management within a manufacturing environment. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while supporting operational decision-making through strong financial analysis and business partnership. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on finance leader who can quickly step into a dynamic environment and provide immediate value.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly consolidated financial statements and management reporting packages
• Managing multi-currency accounting and foreign exchange translation, including USD operations
• Leading budgeting and forecasting processes
• Supervising and mentoring a team of 4–5 accounting professionals
• Partnering with project managers and operational leaders to drive financial accountability and business performance

Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you can confidently communicate financial information to both operations and executive stakeholders. You are direct, collaborative, and relationship-focused, with the ability to influence outcomes while building trust across the organization. Most importantly, you are a hands-on professional who can quickly assess priorities, provide leadership, and ensure financial processes continue to run effectively.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• CPA designation (or equivalent) required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or controllership experience along with 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and delegate effectively to accounting staff
• Strong expertise in financial reporting and financial statement preparation
• Budgeting, forecasting, and project/asset analysis knowledge
• Comfortable working with customized financial reporting systems
• Demonstrated ability to document processes, establish procedures, and identify opportunities for improvement
• Highly organized with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
