Position Overview

Our NPO client is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented and proactive Controller to join their team with strong permanent potential. This position is ideal for someone with experience in nonprofit and fund accounting environments who can take ownership of core accounting processes, support reporting needs, and help ensure accurate allocation and reconciliation of funds.

Key Responsibilities

·      Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports.

·      Post journal entries and maintain accuracy in the general ledger.

·      Perform high-volume reconciliations between fundraising platforms/channels and bank or revenue accounts.

·      Investigate discrepancies, follow up with internal teams, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.

·      Work closely with the foundation/fundraising team to confirm gifts and funds are recorded and allocated properly.

·      Support gift processing activities and ensure donations are accurately reflected in the accounting system.

·      Conduct reconciliations frequently as transaction volume has increased significantly.

·      Maintain strong attention to detail across multiple accounts, transactions, and reporting deadlines.

Required Qualifications

·      Experience using (QBO) QuickBooks Online, with the ability to support or adapt to a transition to Financial Edge, NXT.

·      Strong fund accounting experience required; nonprofit organization experience is a plus.

·      CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA strongly preferred, ideally aligned with long-term succession planning goals.

·      Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs are required.

·      Strong understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and account analysis.

·      Proven ability to take ownership, show initiative, and consistently follow through on outstanding items.

·      Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Background

·      Experience in a nonprofit environment is nice to have, but candidates with strong fund accounting knowledge will also be considered.

·      Familiarity with high-volume donation, revenue, or fundraising reconciliation processes is highly valued.
