Position Summary
We are looking for a detail‑oriented and reliable Bookkeeper with 2+ of hands‑on experience, ideally within the construction, engineering, or detail oriented services industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing day‑to‑day accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting management with timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date general ledger records Record daily financial transactions, including invoices, bills, receipts, and journal entries Perform bank and credit card reconciliations Prepare and process accounts payable and accounts receivable Monitor cash flow and outstanding receivables Construction & Project Support
Track project costs, job cost reports, and expense allocations Assist with progress billings, holdbacks, and lien holdback tracking Coordinate with project managers to ensure accurate cost coding and reporting Payroll & Government Compliance
Process payroll and contractor payments Prepare and file HST/GST returns Support WSIB, EHT, and other statutory remittances Assist with year‑end preparation and liaise with external accountants Reporting & Administration
Prepare monthly financial reports and summaries for management Maintain organized financial records and documentation Assist with budgeting and forecasting as required Support internal audits and financial reviews Qualifications & Experience
2–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience Experience in construction, consulting, engineering, or detail oriented services is strongly preferred Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping Strong understanding of Canadian accounting practices Experience with job costing and project‑based accounting High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail Technical Skills
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) Strong Excel skills (formulas, reconciliations, reporting) Familiarity with payroll systems and government reporting portals Soft Skills & Attributes
Strong time‑management and prioritization skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines detail oriented communication skills Discretion and confidentiality with financial information Proactive, dependable, and solution‑oriented mindset
