We are looking for an Employment Lawyer to join a growing employee-focused practice in Toronto, Ontario. This position suits a lawyer with solid post-call experience who is motivated by helping individuals address workplace issues with confidence and clarity. The successful candidate will take carriage of files across advisory, negotiation, and dispute resolution stages while delivering thoughtful legal guidance and strong client service.
Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice to employees on workplace disputes, including dismissal matters, human rights concerns, and related employment issues.
• Take primary responsibility for files from intake to resolution, ensuring each matter progresses efficiently through negotiation, mediation, tribunal proceedings, or court action.
• Prepare clear and persuasive legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, motions, submissions, opinions, and settlement materials.
• Advocate for clients in discussions with opposing parties and appear before courts, tribunals, and mediators as required.
• Conduct legal research and apply current legislation, regulations, and case law to support strategy and recommendations.
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, explain legal options in practical terms, and build trust through responsive service.
• Work with colleagues on complex employment and labour matters where coordinated legal analysis or litigation support is needed.
• Licensed to practise law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• 3 to 5 years of post-call experience with a strong focus on employment law matters.
• Demonstrated experience acting on behalf of employees in workplace disputes and related claims.
• Sound knowledge of employment standards, human rights legislation, and applicable case law in Ontario.
• Proven ability to draft litigation and advisory documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills in both formal and informal settings.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines effectively.
• Proficiency with legal technology and document tools, including case management and document management software.
