Assistant Controller | High-Growth Manufacturing | GTA West

A rapidly growing manufacturing organization is seeking a forward-thinking Assistant Controller to join its finance team. This is a high-impact role supporting the Controller while helping modernize and streamline accounting operations.

We’re looking for a candidate who brings not only strong technical accounting expertise, but also a passion for automation, process improvement, and leveraging AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Partner on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
• Contribute to weekly and monthly management reporting
• Monitor inventory costing and cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Support accounts receivable and cash collection activities
• Assist with audit preparation and financial reporting requirements
• Identify, design, and implement process improvements, with a strong focus on automation and AI-enabled efficiencies
• Drive initiatives to reduce manual processes and enhance data accuracy and reporting speed
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• CPA designation (or near completion)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (manufacturing experience an asset)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems
• Proven ability to leverage automation tools, improve workflows, and adopt emerging technologies (AI, process automation, etc.)
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities
