Accounting Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead day-to-day financial operations for a construction and contractor-focused organization in Woodstock, Ontario. This position is suited to someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with practical leadership skills and a sharp eye for accuracy. The successful candidate will help strengthen financial reporting, support planning and budget activities, and guide the effective use of accounting systems across the function.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the accounting team in managing daily financial activities, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and maintained in a timely manner.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, reviews, and preparation of financial reporting deliverables.
• Monitor accounting procedures and internal controls to support compliance, consistency, and reliable financial information.
• Coordinate budgeting activities by partnering with operational leaders, reviewing assumptions, and helping track performance against plans.
• Review financial data, transactions, and supporting documentation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
• Support the administration and effective use of accounting and expense management platforms, including tools such as BlackLine and Concur.
• Prepare management reports and provide insights that assist leadership with financial planning and operational decision-making.
• Contribute to process improvements within the finance function, including system-related updates or changes when required.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing core accounting functions within a supervisory or management capacity.
• University Degree in Business, Accounting, or similar. CPA completed (or PEP stages) an asset.
• Strong knowledge of financial review practices, reconciliations, and month-end reporting processes.
• Hands-on involvement in budget preparation, forecasting support, and variance analysis.
• Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems; familiarity with BlackLine and Concur is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to assess financial information for accuracy and completeness.
• Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide staff and collaborate across departments.
• Experience working in a construction, contractor, or similarly project-driven environment is preferred.
