Accounting Manager

Our client is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to take full ownership of the accounting and financial reporting function for a key division within their organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative leader who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with strategic business partnership, team leadership, and process improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to operational and senior leadership teams, providing financial insight, ensuring the integrity of financial results, and driving accountability across the division.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the full financial results and accounting operations for a designated business division.
• Lead all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting functions.
• Provide financial guidance and support to operational leaders, helping translate financial results into actionable business insights.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate external audit activities and act as the primary liaison with auditors.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiencies, and enhance reporting capabilities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in a progressive accounting leadership role with responsibility for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of financial statement preparation, general ledger management, reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to own the financial performance of a business unit, department, or division.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
• Strong leadership capabilities with experience coaching, mentoring, and developing teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting and ERP systems.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting designation) required.
• 3+ years of accounting management or supervisory experience, ideally within a dynamic and growth-oriented environment.
• Experience with fixed asset management and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with Aptora is considered an asset.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
