Job Title: Accounting Manager

Duration: 6-8 months

Job Summary

Robert Half is seeking an interim Accounting Manager for a west GTA client, to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, managing month-end close activities, and supporting continuous process improvements across the accounting function. The Accounting Manager will also supervise a small accounting team and serve as a key liaison for auditors and cross-functional stakeholders. This working arrangement is 4 days onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and approve all account reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Maintain reconciled bank account and credit card balances.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns.
• Ensure compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversee the accuracy of weekly billings and payments.
• Supervise and support a two-person accounting team across accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Provide backup support for A/P, A/R, and Financial Analyst responsibilities during vacations and peak periods.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Finalize work instructions and recommend process improvements in collaboration with the accounting team.
• Participate in ERP enhancement and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure internal controls are appropriately designed, implemented, and followed.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Experience with NetSuite required.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Experience working with a multi-segment account structure required.
• Experience supporting or participating in Big Four external audit environments preferred.
• CPA is nice to have.

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• Experience with ERP process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures.
