We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support the finance team with a primary focus on Accounts Payable. This role is responsible for processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working with high-volume transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and approval compliance
• Coordinate physical cheque preparation and dispatching payments to vendors bimonthly.
• Collate employee timesheets and labour hours to ensure accurate and timely payroll submission.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Maintain organized and up-to-date AP records and documentation
• Communicate with vendors and internal teams to address invoice and payment inquiries
• Assist with month-end close, including accruals and AP reconciliations
• Support audits by providing required documentation and reports
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and tax regulations (e.g., GST/HST)
• Provide ad-hoc administrative support to the finance team.
Qualifications:
•Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3 years of Accounts Payable or general accounting experience
• Familiarity with accounting systems e.g. QuickBooks, or ERP exposure.
• Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with 3-way matching and job cost coding
• Exposure to construction or project-based accounting environments
• Basic understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
