Our client is looking for an Accounting Assistant to join a busy team in Calgary, Alberta on a long-term contract basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong QuickBooks Online experience who is comfortable supporting high-volume accounting activities. The position will focus primarily on accounts payable, while also providing support with receivables, collections, reconciliations, and month-end tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Process high-volume supplier invoices and maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online.
• Enter and code credit card receipts and financial transactions to the appropriate jobs.
• Match invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and job numbers to support accurate job costing.
• Review AP documentation and prepare items for timely processing.
• Follow up on outstanding customer balances and assist with collections.
• Maintain accurate and organized daily accounting records.
• Support account setup, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end activities.
• Assist with ongoing accounting system updates and related data entry.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online in an accounting environment.
• Previous accounts payable experience, including invoice and expense processing.
• Familiarity with accounts receivable follow-up and collections.
• Strong data entry skills with accuracy in a high-volume environment.
• Understanding of job costing and assigning expenses to the correct job or project.
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage competing priorities.
• Experience with journal entries and month-end support is preferred.
