Our client is looking for an Accounting Assistant to join a busy team in Calgary, Alberta on a contract basis. This role supports both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions while helping reduce a backlog of accounting and administrative work. The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records and provide day-to-day accounting support in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Process purchase order and non-purchase order invoices accurately and on time.
• Assist with clearing accounts payable backlogs by reviewing and preparing invoices for payment.
• Support accounts receivable by applying payments, updating cash receipts, and maintaining customer accounts.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve outstanding discrepancies.
• Review employee expense claims and verify supporting documentation.
• Scan, file, and maintain organized accounting records.
• Assist with month-end reconciliations and account reviews.
• Respond to accounting-related inquiries and direct requests appropriately.
• Provide administrative support across accounting workflows as needed. 

Requirements:

• Previous hands-on experience in both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Experience completing vendor reconciliations and account balancing.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of accounting documentation.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, blue-collar environment and collaborating with multiple teams.
• Experience with invoice processing, document management, and general accounting administration.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset; candidates with the ability to learn new systems quickly will also be considered.
• Basic Excel and data entry skills.
