Our client, a leading transportation organization in Calgary, is seeking an Accountant to join their team on a long-term contract basis. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in billing, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the full billing cycle, ensuring invoices are prepared accurately, issued on schedule, and aligned with contract terms.
• Review customer agreements and supporting documentation to validate charges and revenue accuracy.
• Provide oversight and support to billing processes, ensuring accurate invoice processing and transaction posting.
• Perform month-end accounts receivable activities, including reconciliations, account reviews, and journal entries.
• Coordinate intercompany billing activities across multiple entities.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and support timely collections.
• Identify process improvements and enhance efficiencies using Excel tools such as pivot tables, lookups, and Power Query.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and revenue analysis activities as required.

Requirements:

• 3–7 years of accounting experience with strong exposure to billing, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes.
• Ability to independently manage accounting activities with strong attention to detail and initiative.
• Solid understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue-related accounting.
• Experience working with ERP systems; Oracle experience required, with JD Edwards considered an asset.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and Power Query experience.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience identifying process improvements and enhancing manual accounting workflows.
