We are looking for an Accountant to join a Toronto, Ontario team in a Long-term Contract position. This role supports day-to-day financial operations while providing clear analysis and dependable reporting that helps leaders make sound business decisions. The successful candidate will contribute to accurate accounting records, strong controls, and coordinated financial administration across areas such as payments, reconciliations, investment activity, and contract support. This position also plays an important part in finance process improvement and in supporting the rollout, adoption, and ongoing enhancement of the organization’s financial management system.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee core accounting records by maintaining the general ledger and related financial documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
• Manage payable and receivable activities, including reviewing invoices, processing transactions, and helping ensure payments and receipts are recorded on time.
• Complete regular reconciliations for bank accounts, corporate credit cards, and other balance sheet items to support reliable financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial analyses that highlight trends, explain variances, and identify potential risks or opportunities.
• Support planning activities through budget-to-actual reporting, forecasting, cash flow review, and financial modelling for management use.
• Record and reconcile investment transactions, confirm portfolio balances against custodian information, and produce periodic investment reporting for stakeholders.
• Assist with audit and compliance requirements by organizing schedules, preparing supporting documentation, and helping meet legislative and policy obligations.
• Strengthen finance operations by documenting procedures, recommending efficiencies, and serving as a key support resource for financial system configuration, testing, training, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate finance-related deliverables, monitor reporting timelines, and maintain organized contract records to help ensure deadlines and administrative requirements are met.
• Detail-oriented experience in accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations within a structured finance environment.
• Hands-on knowledge of accounts payable, invoice processing, and broader accounting operations.
• Ability to prepare financial analysis, investigate variances, and support forecasting or cash flow planning.
• Experience working with ERP platforms and accounting software such as Sage 50.
• Familiarity with investment accounting, grant accounting, or funding-related financial tracking is considered an asset.
• Solid understanding of internal controls, audit support, and compliance-focused financial practices.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records.
• Effective communication skills to work with internal stakeholders and provide finance-related support across teams.
